Marketers Are Joining the Varsity

Athletes, if they are talented, train hard and get a break or two, can climb the sports ladder from high school to college to the pros. Madison Avenue, sensing a lucrative opportunity, is heading the other way.

Decades after marketers began selling products by capitalizing on consumer interest in professional teams, then college teams, they are becoming big boosters of high school sports.

In fact, the better trained they are, they are eligible to More Bonuses. This encourages the drivers to continue their training to become that much more proficient, making for a safer journey.

Kenwood High School Receives Free Equipment from Sports Image®

Baltimore, MD – January 2011 –Under an agreement with Athletic Director, Derek Maki, in January Sports Image® provided Kenwood High School with a new scoreboard, shot clocks, and $1500 in revenue.  Funds for the equipment were secured by Sports Image® through advertising sponsorships.  Sue Taylor, Project Manager at Sports Image® secured the advertising sponsorships, handled all contracts, developed artwork, and collected payment for the project.  The Sports Image® program did not demand valuable time from the Athletic Director or school personnel.  Major sponsors for the project were Rosedale Federal Savings and Loan, Chick-fil-a at Eastpoint, Valvoline Instant Oil Change and ABC Driving School.

Derek Maki says, “Sue Taylor and Sports Image® came through as promised and we now have a beautiful new scoreboard.  The commitment by Sports Image® to help schools in these types of projects is to be commended.  We would not have been able to have completed this project without them.”

“Sports Image® and projects like these provide sponsors with a more effective way to reach their target audiences.  Sponsors build loyalty and maximize public relations with consumers by making a real connection with their community.  It’s a win-win situation for both the school and the sponsor,” said Sue Taylor of Sports Image®.
